Review: NYC Metro Quartet Eyeshadow - Sandbar

I got this in the mail in September last year, and it took a good while before I started using it, but when I did, let me tell you, I used it alot, which is why I am going to write you a review now, in the middle of the night.

Here you can see the outer packaging and the shades. It's three neutral shades and a purple. You can even tell through the packaging that I've hit pan on two of the shades, haha!

NYC New York Color Metro Quartet Eyeshadow in Sandbar.

Here you can see all the shades, and I labeled them so you can tell the difference in the swatches. I didn't actually realize until now how much more pigmented shade 2 is compared to shade 1. Oh well, shade 1 is great for everyday with shade 4 as a highlight. It's become my go-to look, where I apply shade 1 all over the lid and into the crease, blend it out and apply shade 4 as a highlight in the inner corners and under the brow.

Here they all are swatched. It was a little hard swatching shade 3 and 4 since the pans are so small. The plan is to use up shade 1, 2 and 4, and then depot shade 3 and put it in a palette. I doubt I would use that as an everyday-color as I have done with the others.

All in all I really recommend this palette. They are great shades, and you can make them appear pretty well with a primer underneath. They blend easily too. If you perfer bright colors then it might be for you, but the purple shade do have a pretty blue duo-chrome to it!

Giftwish: Large Makeup Organizer Case

Congratulations, you all survived doomsday!

Thought I'd share another giftwish with you guys to celebrate, and since I came over this on Make Up Academy's facebook-page I wanted to show you. It looks amazing, right?

This is a organizer-case similar to the Zuca-one, just cheaper and a little smaller I think. This baby is only £25 which is an amazing price! When MUA hits 50 000 Facebook-Fans they will have a 50% off code, so I'll definetly go crazy =D
I'll post a wishlist shortly, and it's possible it will be quite long since I don't own anything from MUA!

Go crazy HERE and remember to like their facebook-page HERE for updates and future coupons!

Gift wish: Brush Tree

I saw this in a November-favorites video on youtube, and I couldn't help but to want on for my own. It's so clever and simple, and the price isn't too bad either. I do not know if the company ships internationally though, but it's not expensive to wish !

This is the Brush Tree from Benjadelle, and you can get it HERE!
It is currently out of stock, but I'm sure they'll get more in soon.
The brush tree is avaliable in three different colors; Black, White and Pink.

FOTD - Cat Eye and Winter-Orange

This is my look fpr today. I chose a simple cat eye, with som subtle orange lips. Yes, it's December, but I don't care, I'll wear orange if I'd like, and so should you.

For my eyes I used NYC Metro Quartet in Sandbar. I used the shade to the far left in the crease.
Eyeliner is L'oreal Super Liner Carbon Gloss and L'oreal Kohl in black for my waterline.
The mascara is Miners VoloptuLash, which is my go-to mascara at the moment.
I also used a little bit of ELF Studio Single Eyes in Sand Dollar on my lid and for some highlight, both on the brow bone and on the rest of my face.
I used Maybelline Affinitone Foundation, Nivea Perfect Finish setting powder, 10pc blush palette from eBay, from which I used an orange-shade. I also used Viva la Diva concealer 3in1 for my undereye and as an eyeshadow base.
My lips are covered in a tad ov lipbalm, and Maybelline Color Sensational Lip Liner in 440 Fire Coral

Gift wish: Yonanas Ice Cream Treat Maker

Another wish for this year! It's a machine that makes frozen bananas into a soft-serve ice cream. Since it's just frozen bananas, it's healthy; just like eating a real banana. The machine is made for making banana-ice cream (hence the name), but it can be done with other frozen fruits too, such as strawberries, mango, blueberries and so on.
Here in Norway it retails for 500NOK, but in the US you can get it for $50 at bath and body works. It's also availiable on amazon.com. For all the norwegians out there, it's availiable from komplett.no, expert.no, leifdal.no and so on. It's also avaliable in stores.

This sounds so great, and it's not really that expensive either, so I'm hoping to get this for X-mas!

Have you tried it?

Gift wish: Lulu's Beauty Bag!

I've been drooling over this for a while now, ever since I saw it on Fotballfrue Caroline Eriksen's blog. It's a two-compartment makeup bag. The one I want is in black, but they have ceveral other colors as well.
In the top compartment there's a few stings for your brushes, and in the bottom there's just one huge area for all of you makeup or toiletries.
It's gorgeous, but it's expensive. Original price is 599 NOK, which is around $100, so it's expensive, but I think it would be worth it for a huge, luxery makeup bag with room for all the stuff you need (and do not need) with you for a trip, or to have in your bathroom for easy access.

For you norwegians, you can buy it at Parfymelle stores, and on coverbrands.no (http://www.coverbrands.no/merker/lulu-s/beauty-bag-black/), and probably more places too. It's currently on sale for 509 NOK for the black and the beige models.

Last Minute Halloween Look! - Roboto

Ok, so on tuesday the "russ" at my school are having a theme-day, and the theme is halloween!
Since I'm a russ this year, of course I wanted to participate, and I needed a quick and easy look to do before school, and it also had to be effectful. That's when I thought of this look!
It's a robot-inspired face look, and if you'd like you can obviously cover your whole face if you'd like, but I didn't because I didn't have that much time before I had to go to work, and I just wanted to see if it worked out. As you can see, it did... I'm not a very fan of the black outline, because it needs to be thicker, but I will fix that when I'm going to wear it to school. I'm also planning on doing some patches of silver here and there on my face and exposed parts of my body, so I'll probably post a picture on my facebook-page Chrisbeeblack Beauty when I'm done, so check that out on tuesday if you'd like to see!

BTW, if you're wondering what "russ" is, it's what the Norwegian graduates are called. You can read more about it HERE (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russ) if you'd like! I'll probably also do a video about it in the spring when the celebrations are closing up on me, haha! I also have to get my russe-clothing first!

So here's the look!

 The products I used:
IsaDora Perfect Coverstick - 01 Light
H&M Dipliner - Black
ELF Duo Eyeshadow Cream - Black Licorice
ELF Eyeshadow Duo - Black Licorice
I also used NYX Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencil - Milk, but I forgot to put it in the picture!

We're moving in together! (Before Pictures)

My boyfriend and I have started moving! I'm so excited!

We aren't quite setteled in yet, but I'm hoping we will be during the weekend.
I just wanted to show you guys some pictures of our apartment before we started moving things inside, and I will make another post with before and after pictures when we're all done!

Here is our livingroom!
The reason the lamp and the thing for magazines and newspapers is there is because it was there when we moved in! Here we'll have a couch, TV, DVD/book-shelves and my boyfriend's computer-corner!

This is the kitchen. It's not really that big, but it's enough for just two people.

The bedroom! There is a mounted clothing-closed in a corner, and the matrass is going out as it's not ours.

Then there's the bathroom. It's actually quite big for an apartment this size!

Then there is this a storage-room. I'm thinking about keeping my makeup and such in here, as well as other hobby-things.

Another closet! Will probably keep suits, dresses, shirts and my "bunad" in here!
BTW: A bunad is the Norwegian National Costume!

Another storage unit in the apartment! Here we'll keep outer wear and shoes.

The other side of the second storage unit.

So yeah, that's out apartment! It's a little more stuffed right now, but I'll show you when we're done!
I'll probably film an apartment tour too, haha!

Wishlist: eBay Shoes!

Ok, so I'm a shoe-addict! On top of that my feet are very wide and small (I'm a EU size 38 (US 7, UK 5)). I also have a high instep(?). This basically means that everytime I find shoes I love, and that fit (or I think will fit if I order online) I want so badly! On eBay there are so many dupes of awesome shoes, and I have already ordered a pair of fake JC Spike Litas which I'm waiting for as we speak!

But, there are so many more shoes I want from there. It is so cheap as well, so most shoes I can sell for the same price if they don't fit my feet. That's why I wanted to share this shoe-wishlist with you guys! All shoes from eBay, and prices and sellers are the ones in my watch-list. If you want another size or price (if you're from the US the prices/shipping are usually a lot cheaper for you. A lot of the time I have $30 shipping for a $10 shoe.... Really annoying! Anyways, here we go!

This pair I have been drooling over for forever it feels like!
I think the cheapest I have found was from the seller e4love, where the price is $19.99 (currently with a 5% off for 18.99) and a shipping to Norway for $9.99 which isn't bad. They are gorgeous, and this is the shade Apricot. They are also availiable in black.

Here are another pair of lita-lookalikes. The shade is Beige, but I think it's called apricot from some sellers as well. They are $24.99 with a 10% off at the moment. The shipping to Norway is $29.99, but I think it would be worth it, because they are gorgeous! The seller of these are *v*boots2shoes*v*.

These are from the same seller as above. The price and shipping is the same, but the shade is Taupe. These are currently sold out in all US sizes 7 through 8.5 though =(

These are some super simple low canvas shoes.
The reason I want these are because my fake converse are broken... I want these in both white and black, haha! They are $12.90 with free shipping (yay!) from wonderfulbuying36588 and they are also avaliable in gray.
'

Look at these beauties! I am willing to take a chance that these will not fit my high instep, just because if they fit, I will have a new love! They are obviously in black, but I would like the camel-color too, just because I don't have any brown shoes, and I think they would look good with a summer-dress and such. I would like these without the studs too, though! They are AU $29.98 (US $31.13) and AU $22.99 (US $23.87) from the seller urite. The seller has these shoes in black, camel and red (suede), and in the US sizes 4-8.

Yes, I'm obsessed with spikes, and yes, I love high heels!
As you can tell, most of them are dupes of jeffrey campbell shoes, haha!

Which ones are your favourites?

DIY Bracelets + Bracelet Holder!

I have ordered quite a few different styles of beads on eBay.. If you'd like to know the price and seller, you can check out my eBay hauls: #1 #2 #3.

Because of that I've been really into making bracelets, and here are the five I've made so far:

For this bracelet I've used Skull Beads, 3mm silver ball beads, 8mm rondelle beads with black rhinestones and 5mm silver round beads.

Here I've used 4x6mm rondelle crystal beads and 3mm silver round beads.

This bracelet is made of 5mm silver round beads and tibetan skull charm beads.

Here I've used 8mm rondelle beads with black rhinestones, 5mm silver round beads and Howlite Skull Beads.

For this last one I've used 2.4mm gold round beads and the black 4x6 rondelle crystal beads.

These are the two simpler bracelets I've made.

I know you can't see that well, but here are my skull bracelets.
Skulls have been everywhere lately, and buying bracelets with skulls on them are so extremely expensive, so I just decided to make my own!

Which bracelet was your favorite? =)

If you'd like an awesome DIY-way to store all of your new bracelets, why don't you just make the Bracelet Holder in the video below?

My Tattoo!

Ok, so as you can probably understand from the title, I have a tattoo.
I actually got it today, and it didn't really hurt as much as I though it would, but I did feel it when he kept going over the places he'd already tattooed. I did feel it most the further up the wings he got. He drew it by hand after some pictures I really liked, because I didn't want something everybody else has.

It looked really good, but I wanted him to make the belly bigger, so now it's a little bit of a fat dove which I really like! It took almost an hour, because he went over everything several times to make sure it was perfect.

I paid 1200NOK for it, which is aprox. £120, or $200. It is a little expensive, but I'm in love with it, so it was totally worth it. The studio I used was NeedleInk Tattoo and Piercing in Gran which is the town where I live.

I also had a friend film the prosess, so you'll get to see that when it's been uploaded HERE!
At the moment it's at 81%, so it probably wont take too long.

The reason I took my tattoo was my mother's mother who died 5 years ago on Easter Sunday(?). She had just turned 60 exactly 2 months ago, and it was a big shock when she died. We still do not know what it was, either, but now I have something to remember her by for the rest of my life!

FOTD - Dark Lips for Fall

I wanted to share my Face Of The Day with you guys today, and this is actually my 100TH POST, which is kind of exciting!
The look that I'm wearing today has been all over the runways for the F/W 2012/2013, and I really wanted to try it out. I wore this to school, but if it's not your thing, then try it out at home and see if you like it on your self! I actually quite like this look, and it was really fun with everyone turning around.

Yeah, call me an attention-whore, I don't care :)
I like being noticed... In a positive way, of course.

For my skin I used L'oreal Matte Morphose Foundation with an ELF stippeling brush, and a tiny bit of Nivea Ideal Finish powder on the same stippeling brush for a smooth and even finish.

On my lips I'm wearing Max Factor Colour Elixir Lip Liner in Mauve Mistress which is a super dark, almost brown or black reddish color. Over that to make the color a little ligher and more red I'm wearing Oriflame Hydracolor Lipstick in Wine which is a dark red wine shade.

I kept my eyes super simple and plain so it wouldn't look too much with the super dark lips.
I used a bit of the foundation a base, and some of a brown eyeshadow from my NYC Metro Quartet palette in Sand Bar in the crease, just super lightly. Then I used the light pink color from the same palette as a highlight on my browbone and in the inner corners.

This is the look I wore, and I hope you liked it!

For my outfit I wore something super simple; blue jeans, light yellow singlet and a black blazer!

Thanks for reading, I'll write you later!

First Impression: eBay Brush Set!

Just got these in the mail, and showing them all in the eBay haul where they belong would just make the video far to long, so I'm posting the pictures I took and some first impressions with the quality etc of the set.

Ok, so this is the brushroll  the set came in. I was pleasantly surprised because I didn't expect it to come with a roll. It is a lether-looking thing, and it smelt a little strange at first, but now, after it's been in free air, the smell is completely gone.

This is what it looks like inside. When it first arrived it had plastic tubes around every single brush, and it looked very neat. There is a flap to cover the "head" of the brush which is nice, and they stay very well in their compartments.

These are the first brushes in the set. There are a comb/brush, a mascara wand and two sponge-tip applicators, two angled eyeliner brushes with different width and length of the bristles, a regular eyeliner brush and a smudge-tip from - I guess - smudging eyeliner. The rest are concealer brushes in different shapes and sizes.

 Here there are more concealer-type brushes in all shapes and sizes;
angled, flufflier, flatter, smaller, bigger and so on and so forth. I know a lot of people like these brushes for applying eyeshadow as well. Then there's the flimsy little fanbrush in the middle.

More brushes! Yay!
One concealer brush, a huge concealer brush (or a small foundationbrush) and 4 powderbrushes in different styles. There is one angled contourbrush, a brushbrush, and two brushes with super long bristles as you'll see in the pictures further down.
Here are the same brushes, and the huge, badass fan brush in the end. It's enormous!

This is the coolest brush in the entire set! It's like a blending brush, but it's flat in the end.
If any of you know what this is really for, let me know, haha!

Here are the two first brushes of the bigger ones. You can see the one on the top is very slim, completely round, and the bristles are really long. The bottom brush is a little bigger and not as flimsy and I think it would work nicely with blush.

The angled brush and a bigger powderbrush.

 The enormous fanbrush!

These are a selection of the brushes in the set, I think it's about half of the set.

So I guess you're all curious about the price and the brushes and such, so I'll get to that now!
The brush was $15.00, so less that 50 cents a brush. That is a really good deal, but buying off of ebay you do take the risk of getting crap in the mail.

Luckily I was really lucky, and all the brushes are super soft! They do not scratch my face at all, and they're great! There's not the best variety with most of the brushes being concealer-type, even though they are different, it's the same type of brush. That doesn't really bother me though, because of several reasons:
  1. I don't have that many concealerbrushes.
  2. They work great with other products too: eyeshadows, creams etc.
  3. The smaller brushes also work great as lipbrushes. Maybe they're meant to be lipbrushes, I'm not sure of that, hahaha.
So all in all, I really like the brushset! I did win this in an auction, though, so I don't know if you can find it anymore from the seller I got it from, but if you search 32pcs makeup brush set or something similar, you'll probably find it !

I hope you enjoyed this little first impressions-video !
